Ama Dablam Expedition

Ama Dablam means ‘Mother’s Necklace’. It is considered to be incredibly beautiful mountain to look at, and is the third most popular Himalayan peak among mountain climbers. It was first climbed on 13th March 1961 by Mike Gill (NZ), Barry Bishop (USA), Mike Ward (UK) and Wally Romanes (NZ) via the Southwest Ridge. Climbers technically set up 3 camps along the ridge and to the right of the hanging glacier. After the avalanche of November 2006, a liaison officer and a climbing permit is required to climb this mountain. April-May and October –September are considered to be the ideal months to climb this peak.
