Chitwan National park is not only the first National Park of Nepal, but it is also the most popular destination for jungle safari.It covers an area of 932 sq. km (360 sq mi) and is located in the Chitwan District, which lies in the subtropical, inner Terai lowlands of South-Central Nepal. It contains around 543 species of birds, 700 species of wildlife, and 43 species of mammals.However, Chitwan National Park is well known for its one-horn rhinoceros, Bengal tiger, Basking mugger crocodile, White throated kingfisher, and Paradise flycatcher. 70% of the National Park area is covered with Sal trees and 20% with grasslands. This National Park also hasexcellent accommodation facilities, with most of the lodges offering a choice of either Tharu-style jungle cottages or comfortable safari tents.
ITINERARY FOR CHITWAN NATIONAL PARK JUNGLE SAFARI:
Day 01: Drive from Kathmandu or Pokhara to Chitwan.
Upon arrival at the bus station,transfer to the hotel.After refreshments, visit Tharu village and the National Park Visitors Center.

Day 02: Canoe trip followed by a Nature Walk Program or a visit to the Elephant Breeding Farm. Enjoy an ox-cart ride or a jeep drive back to the resort. After refreshments, you can wash the elephants and swim with them in the Rapti River. Followed by Lunch. Then, elephant back safari and dinner. Tharu dance performance.
