Cho Oyu Expedition from Tibet

Another exciting and popular peak in Tibet is Mt. Cho-oyu, the sixth highest mountain in the world. This 8201m high mountain, standing on the Tibet-Nepal border, could also be climbed from Nepal, through the south face and north–east ridges routes. South side base camp is located at Gokyo lake of Khumbu region, which is known for its stunning views. It was first climbed in 1954 by an Austrian expedition group that crossed over Nangpa La to access it. The group member consisted of HerbertTichy, Joseph Jochler, and PasangDawa Lama. It is considered to be the most accessible mountain among all the eight thousander mountains because the ascent to the summit is short and direct. The base camp can be easily reached by driving from Kathmandu into Tibet.
